Spartans in Seventh Place When Clemson Invitational Resumes on Sunday

SUNSET, South Carolina – The Michigan State women's golf team nearly wrapped-up play at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday, but a thunderstorm with four holes to play in the final round postponed the completion of the event until Sunday. Michigan State was 20-over-par 596 (299-297) after two rounds and tied for sixth place in the 18-team field at The Reserve at Lake Keowee. After completing the second round on Saturday, the Spartans played 14 holes of the third round before the stoppage and are currently in seventh place at 21-over-par.

No. 24 Kent State, which was leading after two rounds with an even-par 576, remains in the lead at 8-under-par with four holes to play – five shots ahead of No. 30 Clemson.
Valery Plata was tied for fourth place after two rounds at 2-under-par 142. She led MSU with an even-par 72 which included one birdie and eight pars over the final nine holes. Through 14 holes of the final round, Plata is even-par.
Paz Marfa Sans' shot a pair of 73's to start the tournament and was tied for 13th place at 2-over-par 146 after two rounds. She's 1-under-par through 14 holes in the final round.
Leila Raines was 12-over-par 156 (80-76) after two rounds and she's currently 1-under-par with four holes to play in the final round.
Valentina Rossi was 9-over-par 153 (77-76) after 36 holes, while Haylin Harris was 12-over-par 156 (79-77). Rossi is 4-over-par so far in the final round, while Harris is 1-over-par.
Caley McGinty of Kent State continues to lead the tournament at 9-under-par; she was 5-under-par 139 after two rounds.
The final round is scheduled to resume at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
