Spartans Take Ninth at Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, South Carolina – The Michigan State women's golf team played the final four holes of the Clemson Invitational on Sunday morning to wrap-up the tournament. After play was halted late Saturday due to thunderstorms, the teams came back to The Reserve at Lake Keowee to play the remainder of the third round at. The 40th-ranked Spartans finished 25-over-par 889 (299-297-293), eight shots out of the top six.

The Clemson Invitational featured nine teams in the Golfstat top-40. No. 24 Kent State won the team title at 12-under-par 852. No. 20 Virginia Tech was the only other team to finish under par at -2.
Valery Plata was even or under par in all three rounds to lead MSU. Her 2-under-par 214 (70-72-72) put her in a tie for seventh place. She parred the only four holes she played on Sunday to complete her final round even-par 72.
Paz Marfa Sans finished 4-over-par 220 (73-73-74) to tie for 24th place.
Leila Raines (80-76-73) and Valentina Rossi (77-76-76) both tied for 62nd place at 13-over-par 229. Raines had the second-best score of any Spartan in the third round with a 1-over-par 73.
Haylin Harris was 14-over-par 230 (79-77-74).
The Spartans are back in action on April 5-6 in Indiana at the IU Spring Challenge.
