The third-place finish marked the third time in four events this season MSU has placed in the top five.
"I like the trend of the group right now," Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn said. "We have a lot of guys hitting a lot of good shots. We have some things to clean up, but all in all we're doing a lot of things well and have been pretty steady."
James Piot led MSU by taking third place with a 9-under-par 207 (70-68-69), which tied a career best. Piot shot his second straight round in the 60s on Monday with a 3-under-par 69 that included four birdies.
"He's one of the best players in the league," Lubahn said. "Even when he maybe didn't play as well as he can this weekend, it was good to see him in contention coming down the line. That's what he expects of himself and what we expect of him."
Andrew Walker had his best showing of the season as he tied for 10th place at 3-under-par 213 (70-72-71).
Troy Taylor II had his best round of the tournament on Monday with a 2-under-par 70 that included birdies on each of the last two holes. He lowered his score in each of the final two rounds to tie for 17th place at 2-over-par 216 (75-71-70).
"It was a cool format to have our top three guys all playing together all three days," Lubahn said. "They are good players. It's nice to see Andrew in his last semester perform week-in and week-out."
August Meekhof tied for 44th at 7-over-par 223 (73-74-76), while Bradley Smithson was 50th at 9-over-par 225 (76-75-74).
North Carolina's Peter Fountain took medalist honors at the event at The UNC Finley Golf Club with a 15-under-par 201 (65-70-66).
Michigan State is back in action this weekend at the Hoosier Invitational, April 3-4, in Bloomington, Indiana.
