No. 8 Illinois won the team title at 7-over-par 859, while Kent State's Cade Breitenstine claimed medalist honors at 3-under-par 210.
"It was a disappointing event for us," MSU head coach Casey Lubahn said. "We played some good golf and just finished every round poorly, and that's the difference between being right there or in the middle of the pack. We have to get ready for a big week now. We're still doing some things well, we just have to get our feet under us."
James Piot secured his second straight top-five finish as he finished tied for fourth place at even-par 213 (68-73-72). Piot carded a 1-over-par 72 in the final round for what was his fourth top-five finish of the year.
Andrew Walker (72-78-75) and August Meekhof (75-76-74) both finished 12-over-par 225, tying for 55th place. Walker shot a 4-over-par 75 on Sunday, while Meekhof had his best round of the tournament with a 3-over-par 74.
Troy Taylor II had his best round of the weekend as well on Sunday, carding a 2-over-par 73. He finished 13-over-par 226 (79-74-73). Bradley Smithson was also 13-over-par 226 (78-73-75), tying with Taylor for 57th place.
The 2021 Big Ten Championships will take place Friday-Sunday at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.
