The Spartans honored their six seniors prior to the game.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Despite a stellar defensive battle, the Michigan State women's soccer team had its Senior Day spoiled by Ohio State, 1-0, Saturday at DeMartin Stadium.
"I am very proud of our seniors, and the way they have represented our program over the years. They are true student-athletes. We had a unique opportunity that we were able to start all of them, and they were excited and came out and played. Without a doubt, this has been a hard year. The schedule was set up really difficult for us with the weather and no home games until the last couple of weeks," MSU head coach Tom Saxton said. "What I can say about this Spartan team is that they continued to try to get better and trust the process. The heart that they show every single game, whatever the score is, has been amazing. I am truly proud of our seniors and the entire team."
Prior to the game Michigan State honored it six seniors: Danielle Stephan, Bella Jodzis, Athena Biondi, Alex Thomas, Devin Jaqua and Michelle Herring.
"The senior class is all my best friends. It has been emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting this year, just with COVID and everything, but we have really prevailed. I have nothing but pride for the people that I have around me, and I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else," Stephan said.
