Tori Franklin Makes U.S. Olympic Team in the Triple Jump, as Trials Conclude

Current Spartan Morgan Beadlescomb finishes sixth in the 5000m finals.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Michigan State track & field standout Tori Franklin finished in second place in the triple jump at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials on Sunday night at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. and qualified for the 2020 Olympics. She was part of a strong contingent of Spartans at the Trials.
Franklin, who will be making her first appearance in the Olympics, finished in second place at 14.36 meters (47-1 ½).
The 2020 Olympics will be held in Tokyo, Japan from July 23-August 8.
Franklin was one of a five current of former Spartans competing on the opening days of the U.S. Trials, joined by Tim Ehrhardt, Leah (O'Connor) Falland, Lauren Chorny and Morgan Beadlescomb.Â
Falland finished in second place in the 3000m steeplechase (9:23.36) in the first round. In the finals despite a late fall finished, she finished ninth with a time of 9:27.06. Ehrhardt finished in 11th place in the men's decathlon.
Chorny reached the finals of the pole vault after finishing 12th, clearing 4.40m, which was a personal best. In the finals, she also finished 12th by clearing 4.35m.
To conclude the trial, current Spartan Morgan Beadlescomb had an amazing showing in the 5000m. With a strong final 400m, he finished sixth with a time of 13:30.90. He had the second-best time of any current collegian behind Oregon's Cooper Teare.
