Twelve Spartans Named AHCA/Krampade Academic All-American Scholars

Twelve members of the Michigan State hockey team were named American Hockey Coaches Association/Krampade Academic All-American Scholars for 2020-21, it was announced by the organization on Monday (July 19). The Spartans' list of honorees includes: Pierce Charleson, Powell Connor, Cal Dybicz, Aiden Gallacher, Adam Goodsir, A.J. Hodges, Austin Kamer, Christian Krygier, Mitchell Mattson, Tommy Miller, Nico Müller and Jake Smith.

Due to the effects of Covid-19, the AHCA adopted revised criteria for this year's honorees. To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.6 GPA for each semester. The Spartans' 12 honorees were the most of any Big Ten Team. In the five years of the annual AHCA academic honor, the 12 honorees are also the most for the MSU program.

The AHCA Academic All-American Scholar honors is the latest in a list of academic achievements for the Spartans this season. Earlier this year, four Spartans earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors, while 13 garnered Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
