EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head wrestling coach Roger Chandler announced Tuesday his team's full non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Featuring eight dates and a variety of opponents, the Spartans begin the campaign on Nov. 6 with the return of the Michigan State Open at Jenison Field House.
Following the Michigan State Open, the Green and White take a week off before heading to the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. On Nov. 20.
The next stretch of competition sends the Spartans to Pennsylvania, as MSU will make a stop at Lock Haven on Dec. 2 on its way to a Dec. 3 dual at Bucknell.
Michigan State hops back on the road Dec. 11, travelling to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to wrestle against West Virginia and Gardner Webb in the Brawl at the Beach.
The final event of the calendar year will have MSU make a short trip to Olivet, squaring off with the Comets and Baldwin Wallace on Dec. 18.
Chandler's team picks up its schedule on New Years Day, competing in the Southern Scuffle. The two-day event, hosted by Chattanooga, will span Jan. 1-2.
After completing their eight-dual slate for Big Ten play, the Spartans will host Central Michigan on Feb. 18 in a final tune-up before the Big Ten Championships.
Chandler, in his sixth season as head coach and 25th overall with MSU, brings back seven wrestlers who qualified for the NCAA Championships last spring.
