
Men's Tennis Completes Day Two of Bayliss Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Michigan State men's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Bayliss Invite with seven more wins in singles action Saturday.

Anthony Pero went 3-0 on Friday and Saturday, adding two more wins on the second day. He defeated Brian Bilsey of host school Notre Dame in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Against Notre Dame's Jamie Corsillo, he also prevailed in a third-set battle superset, coming back from a 0-6 deficit in the second set to earn the win, 6-4, 6-0, 1-0 (8).

Reed Crocker and Luke Baylis each had their second wins of the tournament. Crocker defeated Marquette's Pablo Dale in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (8). Baylis took on Clark Bilinovich of Cleveland State and came out with a clean win, 6-4, 6-3.

Jarreau Cambell picked up his first singles win of his junior year, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 against Austin Straiger of CSU. Kazuki Matsuno won against Eli Zifferblatt of Marquette. The first set ended up going into a tiebreaker, with Matsuno winning 7-6 and following it up with a 6-3 win in the second set.

"The Spartans are competing at a high level for our first fall event," head coach Gene Orlando commented. "Team highlights after the first two days are our doubles teams going undefeated 6-0 and Anthony Pero going 3-0 in singles play. It was great to have Jack Winkler back playing in his first match since 882 days ago winning in a doubles match over Illinois!"
