Bryce Baringer Lands on AP Midseason All-America Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State sixth-year graduate senior punter Bryce Baringer, who leads the FBS in punting with a 51.4-yard average, has been named to The Associated Press midseason All-America team.
Baringer also leads the Big Ten with 16 punts of 50-plus yards, including five of 60-plus yards. He ranks fourth in the conference with 12 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. His season-long 70-yard punt against Western Michigan in Week 1 is tied for the ninth-longest punt in the FBS this season.
A product of Waterford, Michigan, Baringer has been named one of "Ray's 8" top punters of the week by the Ray Guy Award three times this season (Week 1 vs. Western Michigan; Week 6 vs. Ohio State; Week 7 vs. Wisconsin). He was named the Ray Guy Award National Punter of the Week after averaging 48.9 yards per punt vs. Ohio State (seven punts for 342 yards) on Oct. 8; he also tied a career high with five punts placed inside the 20 against the Buckeyes.
Baringer led the Big Ten and set an MSU single-season record in 2021 with a 48.4-yard average; that mark was also the second best in conference history, trailing only Iowa's Reggie Roby, who had a 49.8-yard average in 1981.
Michigan State (3-4, 1-3 Big Ten) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 to face No. 4/3 Michigan (7-0, 4-0) in Ann Arbor at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
