
Fish and Smith Honored as PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2022-23 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

The honorees for November were Caleb Fish (wrestling) and Nyah Smith (women's gymnastics).

Fish, a junior from Eaton Rapids, Mich., is a human capital and society major. Competing at 165-pounds, Fish is 12-3 so far this season, including 4-1 in duals. In his first two seasons as a Spartan, he posted a 28-15 record, qualifying for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships at 165. He is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Smith, a senior from West Bloomfield, Mich., is a kinesiology major. She is a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-America Award and Academic All-Big Ten honoree. A key piece to the team's historic season last year, especially on floor, where she posted 9.900 at the NCAA Regional Finals and a career-high 9.925 earlier in the season. Smith has been active in the local community during her time at MSU, taking part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Teams for Toys, Sound the Alarm-Save a Life initiatives, in addition of other volunteer events with her fellow student-athletes.
