
Mack, Malczewski, Sissoko Honored as PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2021-22 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

The honorees for February are Lori Mack (field hockey), Layne Malczewski (wrestling) and Mady Sissoko (men's basketball). Â Â

Mack, a senior from Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a communications major with a 3.97 grade point average. A two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honoree, she also received a pair of honors at this season's team banquet – the MSU Spirit Award (for her dedication on and off the field) and the Janine Ackerman Award (for exemplifying leadership, being a team player and character). Off the field, Mack has been active in the community during the holiday seasons and taken part in various Be The Match outreach efforts.

Malczewski, a redshirt junior from Macomb, Mich., is a human capital major. He is a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier at 184 pounds and holds a 69-31 career record at MSU, including a 27-11 mark in duals. In the classroom, Malczewski is a two-time WCA Scholar All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Sissoko, a sophomore from Bafoulabe, Mali, West Africa, is a sociology major. He appeared in 30 games off the bench for the Spartans, averaging 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game, while shooting 63.2-percent from the field.
