MSU enters Thursday's contest with a 9-9 overall record and a 1-6 mark in conference play, coming off a 4-0 loss to rival Michigan at home this past Saturday.
Saturday's match between the Spartans and Wolverines started with Michigan taking the doubles point, picking up wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts as the top pairings went unfinished with Jaedan Brown and Julia Fliegner holding a 5-2 lead over senior Maja Pietrowicz and graduate student Mary Lewis. Despite some close battles in singles action, the Wolverines took a quick 2-0 lead when 121st-ranked Andrea Cerdan defeated No. 4 singles MSU player and senior Nicole Stephens, 6-1, 6-3, and the 73rd-ranked Brown survived a close first set to defeat Pietrowicz on the second court, 7-5, 6-1. Michigan wrapped up the victory when Kari Miller, ranked No. 13 in the nation, bounced back after losing the first set to Lewis, recovering for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win.

Despite being out due to injury, Alexa Noel still holds the No. 10 singles player ranking in the country after going 7-2 in the fall.
A pair of 4-0 conference wins for Nebraska at Rutgers and Maryland this past weekend moved the Huskers' record to 12-8 overall, pushing Nebraska to a 5-3 Big Ten mark. Kristina Novak is the team's top singles player, improving to 17-10 on the season with a pair of wins in the No. 1 spot over the weekend, while Samantha Alicea is second on the Huskers with 14 singles victories.
