Michigan State battled hard to put runs on the board, but Wisconsin was able to answer and slow the Spartans' momentum. When a 4-0 lead was cut to 4-2, the Badgers put two runs on the board to make it 6-2. Michigan State halved the lead making it 6-4, but Wisconsin once again responded and extended its advantage to 8-4.
Fifth-year Caitie Ladd led the Spartans in hits on Saturday going 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Senior Jessica Mabrey and freshman Macy Lee also drove batters in for MSU. Junior Camryn Wincher reached base three times for the Spartans, singling and drawing a pair of walks.
Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after opening the game with three consecutive base hits. The Badgers looked to take a 2-0 lead on a suicide squeeze bunt, but sophomore Ashley Miller and Macy Lee successfully executed defensively to tag the runner out at home. In the second inning, a two-out bases loaded single cleared the bases and gave Wisconsin a 4-0 lead.
The Spartans got onto the scoreboard in the third inning after a pair of batters reached base on errors. With runners on the corners Caitie Ladd singled to left, scoring sophomore Marissa Trivelpiece from third. Michigan State would then add another run to its tally in the fourth when a double to right center by Lee plated Wincher.

Wisconsin thwarted MSU's building momentum in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run from Kayla Konwent.
A two run sixth inning from the Spartans put Michigan State right back into contention on Saturday. Wincher drew a walk and Lee reached on an error to put two on for Mabrey. Mabrey hit a ball to shallow right field that got taken by the wind and dropped for a double, scoring Wincher and pinch runner Kendall Kates.
Two more runs for the Badgers in the home half of the sixth ended Michigan State's comeback hopes as a two-RBI single for Ally Miklesh extended Wisconsin's lead to 8-4.
UP NEXT: Michigan State will play its final game in Madison on Sunday, April 17 with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. (ET)/1:00 p.m. (CT) from Goodman Diamond.
