EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rowing is back in action this weekend at the Dale England Cup hosted by Indiana. Racing at Lake Lemon in Bloomington is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30.Â
The Spartans will race alongside host Indiana, Notre Dame and Clemson at the regatta. MSU has faced the Hoosiers and Fighting Irish at previous races but will be competing against Clemson for the first time this season. Indiana is nationally ranked at No. 18 in the Pocock CRCA poll, while Clemson is receiving votes.Â
MSU starts the day off with a novice eight race against Indiana at 9 a.m. From there, all four teams will compete against each other in a series of 2,000-meter races beginning at 9:15 a.m. The varsity four, second varsity eight and varsity eight races are all worth a set amount of points based on each crew's finish in the race. The team that earns the most overall total points wins the Dale England Cup trophy at the conclusion of the regatta.Â
The Spartans are coming off of a solid showing at the Big Ten invite and a weekend of scrimmage racing at Iowa with Tulsa, Drake and Old Dominion. MSU's second novice eight crew won in the final race of the Big Ten invite on April 16, placing ahead of Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa. The Spartans also took home two runner-up and eight third-place finishes at the event.
