Mucha, Dubinsky Join Spartan Hockey

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State hockey coach Adam Nightingale has added graduate student Miroslav Mucha (Bytca, Slovakia) and junior forward Zach Dubinsky (Highland Park, Ill.) and to the Spartan hockey roster for the 2022-23 season.

Mucha played four years at Lake Superior State and will join the Spartan roster for his fifth year of eligibility as a graduate transfer. He had 35 points in 2021-22 (10g, 25a) and served as an alternate captain for the Lakers, and over four seasons played in more than 100 games with 18 goals and 39 assists (+8). Dubinsky played two collegiate seasons at Rensselaer, appearing in 66 games in 2019-20 and 2021-22. He is coming off a 10-goal, 20-point campaign for the Engineers.

The duo adds depth and goal-scoring ability to the Spartan forward corps, which returns its top three scorers to the roster in 2022-23.

"We're happy to add these two players to our roster – they have collegiate experience under their belts and will have some time to play with our returning guys once they arrive on campus this summer," said Nightingale. Mucha is a high-character guy with leadership experience, and he also won a CCHA title at Lake State. Dubinsky has a great work ethic and adds skill to our lineup. He plays a 200' game, which leads to winning hockey. I'm looking forward to them joining us on campus as we start to work toward the upcoming season."

2020-21 (Junior, at Lake Superior State): Named to the WCHA All-Academic Team and was a WCHA Scholar-Athlete … Played in 29 games, scoring five goals and nine assists for 14 points… Finished the season with a career-best +7 rating... Recorded two multi-point games during the season… Scored his first career game winning goal against Alabama-Huntsville (12/6) … Registered a career-high three game goal-scoring streak from Dec. 5 - Jan. 2 against Alabama-Huntsville and Bemidji State.

2019-20 (Sophomore, at Lake Superior State): WCHA All-Academic Team selection and WCHA Scholar-Athlete … Played in 30 games, posting three goals and five assists on the year … Opened the season with his first career point, goal and multi-point game against Merrimack (10/5) … Notched his second multi-point game of the season with two assists at Notre Dame (10/26) … Posted points in consecutive games during the Michigan Tech series (2/7-8) with a goal in the opening game and an assist in the series closer… Scored the game's opening goal in the Lakers 5-3 win at Bemidji State in the WCHA Quarterfinals (3/7).

2018-19 (Freshman, at Lake Superior State): Appeared in eight games.

Prior to College: Played two seasons with the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL... In the 2017-18 season, suited up for 59 games, with a nearly point-per-game average (30-25--55)...
