Michigan State Athletics Announces Updated Tailgating Times and Bag Policy for Home Football Games

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics has announced updated tailgating times and a new bag policy for home football games, which will take effect for the 2022 season in Spartan Stadium.

"We are excited to host our loyal passionate fans once again for an exciting home schedule at Spartan Stadium," MSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Alan Haller said. "These are two steps in our unwavering commitment to improve the gameday fan experience."

TAILGATING
Tailgating lots will now open on campus at 7 a.m. for noon to 4 p.m. kickoffs and 11 a.m. for night games. These times apply only to Saturday games.

Previously, lots opened at 7 a.m. for noon kickoffs, 9 a.m. for 3:30/4 p.m. kickoffs, and 1 p.m. for night games.

BAG POLICY
In addition to the extended tailgating hours, fans will now be allowed to bring clear bags into Spartan Stadium. In accordance with Michigan State Athletics security guidelines, the only bags, packages or containers permitted to be carried by fans as they enter the stadium are the following:

Bag that is clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and does not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
Small clutch bag, camera and binocular cases, not exceeding 4.5" x 6.5", with or without a handle or strap

Exceptions can be made for medically necessary, childcare or dietary items after proper inspection.

Clear bags are available for sale at shop.msuspartans.com and will also be available for purchase on game days at various Sparty's Locker Room locations around Spartan Stadium.
