Michigan State Ranked No. 15 in Preseason Associated Press Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State is ranked No. 15 in the Preseason Associated Press Poll, which was released on Monday.

This marks the first time MSU has been ranked in the AP Preseason Poll since 2019 (No. 18). It's also the highest MSU has been ranked in the AP Preseason Poll since entering at No. 11 in 2018.

Since 1950, Michigan State has appeared in the Preseason AP Poll on 33 occasions.

MSU is looking to build off the momentum from last season's school-record turnaround, as the Spartans posted a nine-game improvement from 2020 (two wins) to 2021 (11 wins), won a New Year's Six bowl game over No. 12 Pitt in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and finished No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 9 in The Associated Press Poll.

The Spartans are in the second week of preseason camp and completed their 10th preseason practice on Monday morning.

MSU's season opener is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2 vs. Western Michigan at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.
