Spartan Men’s Soccer Faces No. 7 Pitt in Final Exhibition Friday

Michigan State will open the regular season against Army on Aug. 26.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer will conclude exhibition action against No. 7 Pitt on Friday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium.
This is the last of three exhibitions for the Spartans. MSU defeated Lawrence Tech, 3-0, on Aug. 11, while falling to Butler, 1-0, on Aug. 14.
Facing Pitt will provide a great challenge for Michigan State. The Spartans will go on to face six teams ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25. In non-conference play, MSU will take on No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 25 Bowling Green. In Big Ten action, Indiana is ranked No. 13 with Maryland and Penn State, standing No. 20 and No. 21, respectively.
The Panthers begin season ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. Pitt finished last season 13-5-2 overall, making its second-straight Elite Eight appearance.
The Spartans return captains and seniors Jack Beck, Will Perkins and Louis Sala. Beck is a two-time All-Big Ten midfielder, earning first team honors last season. The 2021 MSU team finished the season with a 6-9-2 overall record and were 2-4-2 in Big Ten action.
