
Chandler Announces 2022-23 Wrestling Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head wrestling coach Roger Chandler announced the Spartans' 2022-23 schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by one tournament and five dual meets inside Jenison Field House.
"I am very much looking forward to the upcoming season," Chandler said. "Our guys are ready and excited to get back to competition, so we can take another step forward as a program. We have a good mix of veteran and underclassmen leadership, which is a great thing for our team. I believe the experience throughout our lineup will lead to a great year, and we all are ready to get started."
The first whistle blows on Nov. 5, as the Green & White host the 2022 edition of the much-anticipated Michigan State Open at Jenison Field House. MSU then heads to the Carolinas for a pair of dual meets at Davidson on Nov. 11, followed by a Nov. 12 meeting with Presbyterian in Charleston, South Carolina. The Spartans continue their road trek the following weekend, squaring off against American on Nov. 18 before taking part in the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Maryland, on Nov. 19.
Michigan State will participate in one of the premier dual meet events in the nation on Sunday, Dec. 4, as the Spartans join an eight-team field in the Garden State Grapple at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. MSU takes the mat against Binghamton at 2 p.m., followed by Princeton at 4 p.m. The field features three other Big Ten programs in addition to MSU with Indiana, Rutgers and Wisconsin, as well as four Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association challengers in Binghamton, Drexel, Penn and Princeton.
MSU rounds out the fall semester with a Dec. 10 dual meet at Brown before heading to Reno, Nevada. The Spartans will take part in the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions inside the Reno Events Center on Sunday, Dec. 18. MSU wrestlers will take on challengers from across the country in an individual advancement format with a team scoring component.
Following the turn of the new year, Michigan State hosts its first two dual meets inside Jenison Field House on Jan. 6 against Bucknell before competing against archrival Michigan on Jan. 13. The Spartans begin a three-meet road trip in Big Ten play at Minnesota (Jan. 15), Rutgers (Jan. 20) and Penn State (Jan. 22) before returning home to grapple with Maryland in East Lansing on Jan. 27. Michigan State closes out the on Jan. 29 facing Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
The Green & White round out the home portion of the schedule with a pair of B1G dual meets against Illinois on Feb. 5, followed by Indiana on Feb. 10. MSU concludes the regular season on Friday, Feb. 17, as the Spartans take on the Central Michigan Chippewas in Mount Pleasant. Postseason action begins with the Big Ten Championships hosted on the campus of the University of Michigan on March 4-5. The NCAA Championships from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, are slated to begin on Thursday, March 16 and conclude on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
