•  No. 15 Michigan State heads out on the road to Minneapolis for a two-game series at No. 2 Minnesota.  MSU trails in the all-time series by a 50-131-16 margin, including 5-0 and 6-3 wins in East Lansing in early December.  In that series, both the Gophers and the Spartans skated through both games penalty-free - the first known time that two Division I men's hockey teams BOTH skated through a two-game series without a penalty called.  MSU brings Minnesota products Justin Jallen (St. Paul) and Gavin Best (Richfield) to play in their home state.  Â
•  With a 13-11-2 record, MSU has surpassed its win total for all of 2021-22 (12), the most since 2019-20 (15 wins). MSU last finished over .500 in 2014-15 (17-16-2).  The Spartans have taken points out of six of their eight B1G weekends.  With seven Big Ten Conference victories, it is the second-most for MSU in its B1G history  MSU won 11 B1G games in both 2014-15 (37 points) and 2019-20 (35 points). Â
•  With 76 goals scored through 26 games, the Spartans have matched their 36-game total from 2021-22.  (2.92 goals per game, fifth B1G). The Spartans are on pace to score 105 goals (based on a 36-game minimum number of games).  Since 2009, MSU has scored 100 goals in a season just twice (2011-12, 111 and 2009-10, 115) and had scored 100+ in each year from 1960-61 to 2007-08.  Â
• MSU's top line of Karsen Dorwart centering Jagger Joshua and Daniel Russell are three of the top four scorers for MSU, with a combined 25 goals and 54 points.  Joshua was the Big Ten First Star after a four-goal weekend against Penn State (1/13-14).  The winger scored the tying goal in Friday's game that sent the game to overtime, then produced his second hat trick of the season in MSU's Saturday 4-4 tie with the Nittany Lions.  He leads the Spartans with his career-best 11 goals, and 11-7-18 scoring line represents career bests in all categories.
• Cole Krygier played the role of overtime hero against Penn State in the Jan. 13 game, and had a three-point weekend.  His eight goals ranks in a tie for fourth among Division I defensemen in goals and leads all B1G rearguards, and has doubled his previous single-season best (4). Â
• Dylan St. Cyr has played in 25 of MSU's 26 games this season (and all 16 Big Ten contests).  He has matched or surpassed his previous single-season bests in games played (25), wins (12), saves (746) and minutes played (1464).  He  made 77 saves in nearly 130 minutes of work against PSU, as both games went to overtime.  St. Cyr is third in the Big Ten in  save percentage (.921, 20th nationally), and is fifth in the Conference with a 2.62 GAA.   His 25 games played ranks in a tie for third nationally.
