Opening statement …
Tough one tonight, credit to Nebraska. They played a good game and they are a great team. There's a lot to learn from our Big Ten opener; the biggest takeaway is the rebounding, that was a really frustrating and hard part of the game. I felt that every time we'd get a stop and make them take a tough shot, we must find ways to come up with the ball. I loved our fight back when we were down to get back into this one. Felt like we were trying to get home runs instead of singles. We must find ways to not come up with empty possessions, and string good possessions together. A lot to learn.
On the low shooting percentage today …
I thought the first half we got great shots. For as well as we have been shooting, we didn't shoot it well tonight. We had good shooters taking good shots, especially shots we've made consistently. That's the way it goes. It's a long season so you can't live and die with it.
On struggling to score off Nebraska turnovers …
We doubled the turnovers but can't come up with empty possessions. You can't force a turnover and give it right back. If we are going to force turnovers, we have to make better use of them on the other side.
On Hallock's production recently …
She is great. She has a ton of fight and I thought she willed us back in. She had a no quit attitude and made plays and got us a lot of momentum. She was really good on both sides of the ball.
On key takeaways to use for upcoming games …
Rebounding, communication, and ability to listen is really important in these games. We've got to move together and know what we're in together. We have got to get better at that.
On how to improve the three-point shooting …
I think we will see the film and watch it. I'm sure some of them weren't great shots, but in the first half it felt like we were just waiting for one of those to go. When the court spaces, the game changes.
On the crowd today …
Our fans have been awesome. I've felt like every home game we've had more fans. We had a great student section today. I encourage them to keep coming out, they make a big difference for us. They make it a very fun place to play. I wish we could have played better for them today, but we are excited how the fan momentum has kept increasing.
