Walker Scores 23, Michigan State Tops No. 17 Indiana, 80-65

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team put four players in double figures, led by senior guard Tyson Walker's 23 points, as the Spartans beat No. 17 Indiana, 80-65, on an emotional night at the Breslin Center.
Walker hit 8-of-14 shots, including 5-of-7 from 3-point land to lead the way with 23 points and added four assists.
Junior guard A.J. Hoggard finished with 22 points, five assists and three rebounds, while graduate forward Joey Hauser had 10 points and eight rebounds and senior forward Malik Hall added 10 points and five rebounds.

Michigan State improves to 17-10 overall and 9-7 in the Big Ten Conference, while Indiana falls to 19-9 overall and 10-7 in league play.

- The Spartans led by six points, 35-29, at the break, thanks in large part to Walker, who scored 12 points, hitting 4-of-6 from long distance in the opening 20 minutes.
- MSU started the second half by connecting on 3-pointers form sophomore guard Jaden Akins and one from Hauser, giving MSU a 41-31 lead and forcing Indiana to call an early timeout.
- Two more treys, first from Hoggard and then from Hauser, gave MSU a 47-34 lead with 17:22 to play.
- MSU took its biggest lead to that point on free throws from Hall with 15:18 to play, making it 53-39, but Indiana responded with a 9-0 run and pulled to within five points, 53-48, on a jumper from Malik Reneau.
- The Spartans came back with eight-straight points and pushed the lead back to 13 points, 61-48, with 8:33 left to play.
- Indiana would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way and MSU took its biggest lead, 80-65, on a layup from Hoggard with nine seconds left.
- Indiana opened the game with an early 8-0 lead following a fast break layup from Jalen Hood-Schifino and the Spartans finally got on board with a Hauser three at the 16:34 mark.
- But MSU could not gather momentum as Indiana took its biggest lead, 22-13, on a layup from Trayce Jackson-Davis at the 8:19 mark.
- That's when Walker got hot, as the senior guard hit four shots from 3-point land in the final six minutes and the Spartan out-scored the Hoosiers, 22-7 over the final 6:12 for a 35-29 lead at the break.
- Michigan State shot 47.3 percent from the floor (26-of-55), including 47.6 percent from 3-point land (10-of-21).
- The Spartans out-rebounded Indiana, 33-24.
- MSU collected 10 offensive rebounds and scored 13 second-chance points.
