First Star Honors Go to St. Cyr

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State graduate student goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) is the Big Ten First Star of the Week after stopping 65 of 67 shots last weekend against Notre Dame.

St. Cyr earned his fourth Big Ten Star honor of the year, his third time as the First Star (he was the Third Star of the Week after the MSU-Michigan series in December). It is the most individual star honors for a single player since John Lethemon earned them four times in 2019-20.

In backstopping the Spartans to the critical conference sweep of Notre Dame, St. Cyr made 32 saves on Friday in his third shutout of the season, and came back with 33 saves on Saturday in a 3-2 victory.

St. Cyr has played in 29 of MSU's 30 games this season (and all 20 Big Ten contests). He has matched or surpassed his previous single-season bests in games played (29), wins (14), saves (851) and minutes played (1684). He ranks fourth in the Big Ten in save percentage (.917, 25th nationally), and is fifth in the Conference with a 2.74 GAA. His 29 games played and 851 saves is third among Division I goaltenders this season, his 1683:43 ranks fourth, and his 14 victories is tied for 12th.

Over his career, St. Cyr boasts a 2.35 GAA and .922 save percentage in 76 games, with a 40-26-4 record. Among active Division I players, St. Cyr ranks fourth in career shutouts (13), fifth in goaltender wins (40), ninth in save percentage, 12th in career saves (1,942), 14th in winning percentage (.590), and 24th in GAA.

St. Cyr and the Spartans take on Michigan this weekend – the teams will face off on Friday at Munn Ice Arena, and again on Saturday in the Duel in the D at Little Caesar's Arena.
