Softball Fans Pack Secchia Stadium on Wednesday Night

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State softball took on Michigan Wednesday night in front of a crowd of over 1,200 softball fans, ultimately falling to the Wolverines by a final score of 5-2 at Secchia Stadium.
With a loss the Spartans fall to 11-22 overall and 1-9 in Big Ten play.
Spartan Stats
Sophomore Faith Guidry (2-7) drew the start for the Spartans pitching the first three innings of the contest. Guidry allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks. Junior Ashley Miller came on in relief of Guidry to pitch the final four innings. Miller allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk, striking out four.
Sophomore Macy Lee led the Spartans with a pair of hits on Wednesday while seniors Kennedy Wyllie and Brooke Snyder each had one. Freshman Bibianna Rodriguez tallied her first career hit in the sixth inning. Fellow freshman Mandy Esman had the lone run batted in.
Scoring Summary
Michigan State held a 2-0 advantage over the Wolverines through three innings after a pair of non-traditional run scoring opportunities. Freshman Kayla Bane reached on an error in the second inning while freshman Hailey Bila sprinted home from third to give MSU an early lead. Esman drove in freshman Britain Beshears on a fielder's choice in the home half of the third.
Michigan used a three-run inning in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead over the Spartans at the mid-way point. The Wolverines scored twice more in the sixth after an RBI double and a two-out RBI single.

Michigan State will resume B1G play at home this upcoming weekend playing host to Minnesota April 14-16 at Secchia Stadium. Friday night's first pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.
