
Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State field hockey head coach Helen Knull has announced the Spartans' 2023 schedule, featuring a 16-contest slate with eight games at Ralph Young Field.
The Spartans will host a trio of opponents at Ralph Young Field in the preseason. Northwestern will visit East Lansing on Tuesday, Aug. 15 before in-state foes Michigan (Friday, Aug. 18) and Central Michigan (Sunday, Aug. 20) make the short trip to Ralph Young Field to wrap up the preseason.
MSU opens the regular season with three-straight road games, traveling to the Northeast to face Boston University on Friday, Aug. 25 before a road game at New Hampshire on Sunday, Aug. 27. MSU will be facing both the Terriers and Wildcats for the first time since 2011. The Spartans then travel to Kent State, the alma mater of Spartan head coach Helen Knull, for a road game on Friday, Sept. 1.
Following its two-week road stint, the Spartans will host five-straight home games, beginning with defending Atlantic 10 champion Saint Joseph's on Friday, Sept. 12, before a midweek matchup against Stanford on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
MSU then hosts its first Big Ten games of the season, taking on Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 17 and Indiana on Friday, Sept. 22. The Spartans will wrap up their five-game homestand with Central Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 24.
The Spartans will then hit the road for three-straight B1G matchups, taking on Northwestern on Friday, Sept. 29, before traveling to Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 1 and Maryland on Friday, Oct. 6.
MSU's final conference home matches will take place on Friday, Oct. 13 against Penn State and Sunday, Oct. 15 against Rutgers.
The Spartans' regular-season road finale will begin at Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Oct. 22 and end at defending conference champion Michigan on Friday, Oct. 27.
A home game against Ball State on Sunday, Oct. 29 will conclude the Spartans' regular season.
Michigan will host the 2023 Big Ten Tournament Nov. 2-5 at Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor. The NCAA First and Second Rounds will take place on campus sites Nov. 10-12 and the NCAA Final Four is scheduled for Nov. 17-19 at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Michigan State returns 17 players from its 2022 team. Five freshmen and two graduate transfers will also join the program this fall.
