How It Happened
Indiana opened up a 3-0 lead over the Spartans in the first inning due in part to a two-run home run by Taylor Minnick.
The Spartans wasted no time responding however as Wyllie's three-run home run in the second inning tied the game up at 3-3. Beshears was the first Spartan to reach base, drawing a one-out walk before Kates singled to right past the diving glove of the IU second basemen.

Michigan State took a 4-3 lead over Indiana in the top of the third after Snyder scored on a Hoosier error. Esman's grounder to second wasn't fielded cleanly which allowed Snyder to score from second as the ball rolled into center field.

MSU increased their advantage in the fourth as Wyllie scored on a Hoosier error. Trying for a double steal, Fox was tagged out at second, but the throw to third to keep Wyllie in check found its way into foul territory.
IU took a 7-5 lead over the Spartans in the bottom of the fourth using a four-run inning to take a two-run edge over MSU. A pair of Spartans errors started the frame on the wrong foot as both would come around to score on consecutive Hoosier doubles. Indiana used a solo home run and an RBI single to pull away with a 9-5 lead in the sixth inning of action.
