Parking Information for Football Season Opener vs. Central Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State football will open the 2023 season on Friday, Sept. 1 vs. Central Michigan, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. All classes will be held as scheduled and operational work will continue with limited disruption.

The following parking lots will be closed beginning at 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 31, through 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at which point the appropriate event parking pass will be required:

Lot 62 located on the north side of the IM Sports West and Spartan Stadium
Lot 124 located on the north side of the IM Sports West and Spartan Stadium
Lot 61 located on the west side of Spartan Stadium
Lot 79 located on the south side of Spartan Stadium

On Sept. 1, the remainder of the lots on campus will be available for faculty, staff and students with appropriate parking permits for work and class-related parking until 1 p.m. At that time, MSU Police and Public Safety personnel will restrict entry into all football pass lots. Faculty and staff who leave these lots during the noon hour should plan to return prior to 1 p.m. to ensure re-entry. Alternatively, faculty and staff may obtain employee passports from their departments to park in designated public lots at no cost.

All donor lots reserved by the MSU Athletics Department will open at 2 p.m. All parking lots which are designated for general football parking will open at 3 p.m. All faculty and staff with cars are encouraged to begin leaving campus by 1 p.m. Therefore, supervisors are being asked to determine the operational needs of their individual units and, where possible, use flexible schedules arranged throughout the course of the week so that staff may leave campus by that time.

Michigan State University Parking Services would like to inform the community about new parking changes for the upcoming 2023 football season, including:

Cherry Lane parking is limited due to construction of the MSU Recreational Sports facility
General parking for tailgating is now $30
There is a $20 entrance fee to Lot 89/MSU Pavilion with free roundtrip shuttle service

For the rest of the season, beginning Sept. 9, parking lots open at 7 a.m. for games that kick off before 6 p.m., and 11 a.m. for kickoffs at or after 6 p.m. All shuttle buses start two hours prior to kickoff and run continuously until roughly two hours after the game ends.
