Michigan State Field Hockey concludes its five-game homestand this weekend as it sets to face Indiana University on Friday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. and in-state rival, Central Michigan University on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.

SPARTAN NOTES

B1G Co-Freshman of the Week Cecily Charles had a career day against No. 17 Ohio State, recording a career-high 14 saves. Charles made three starts in three appearances in Green and White with a .815 save percentage and 2.70 GAA.

Lena Kassel recorded her first career goal in a Michigan State uniform against Ohio State on a penalty stroke to send the Spartans into overtime.

Celina Riccardo looks to make her 73rd start out of 74 career games, with 65th consecutive starts for MSU.

Three different Spartans has scored a goal in the last two games; Lulu Fulton and Kim Smit each scored against Stanford and Kassel against Ohio State.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS

Indiana is led by fifth-year head coach Kayla Bashore. IU is 3-4 record, including a 0-1 record in B1G play heading into the weekend.

Indiana returned 20 players from last year's roster including eight of their nine top scorers.

The Hoosiers are led by Sarah Charley and Ines Garcia Prado who each have seven points through seven games.

SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS

Central Michigan is led by second-year head coach Jennifer Johnstone. Before joining the Chippewas, Johnstone spent five years with MSU as an assistant coach under Helen Knull. CMU is 1-5 on the year and fell to Kent State in their lone MAC game so far.

Central Michigan has been shut out in four-straight games going into the week.

MSU owns the all-time series 49-15-4. The Chippewas have only beaten the Spartans three times since 1990.

The Spartans will take a B1G road trip facing Northwestern University on Friday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. and University of Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
