EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State wrestling team had a quick turnaround from Friday's victory as they defeated Ohio University, 30-11, in a back-and-forth battle Saturday evening inside Jenison Field House.
HEAD COACH ROGER CHANDLER
"It was a complete team performance and our best performance all year from top to bottom, we minimized their (Ohio) opportunities of bonus points and maximized on our end with five matches ending with bonus points," said Chandler. "We adjusted from last night's performance where we weren't at our best and Ohio is a very good team. Good things happen when you wrestle seven minutes, that's what we preach on."
The Spartans record remains a perfect 7-0 for the third time in program history, while the Bobcats drop to 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tight-knit battle in the first four bouts with each team winning two, Ohio won the 133 and 149-pound matches. No. 32-ranked 125-pound redshirt junior Tristan Lujan got back into the win column with an 8-3 decision on two takedowns, and No. 33-ranked 141-pounder redshirt senior Jordan Hamdan earned the first of five bonus points for MSU with a 12-4 decision on three takedowns.
No. 21-ranked 157-pound senior Chase Saldate picked up back-to-back pins on back-to-back nights with a first period fall over Ohio's Dan Segura. Saldate's six falls now leads the team.

The Bobcats would win the 174-pound match, their lone with bonus points, in a 15-2 major decision.
From there on out it was all Green and White, who won the final three bouts of the night. No. 21-ranked graduate 184-pounder Layne Malczewski earned his third major decision dual victory of the season with an 8-0 shutout over Ohio's Zayne Lehman, and No. 31-ranked 197-pound redshirt freshman Kael Wisler sealed the Spartans victory with a dominat 14-3 major decision.
Redshirt-freshman heavyweight Josh Terrill continued to put on electrifying performances for the crowd, as he battled his way back from a 4-1 deficit in the third period swinging Ohio's Jordan Greer with a hip toss and pinned Greer with under a minute left.
Michigan State will now focus on the B1G season as it travels to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Jan. 14.
