Stramel Earns B1G Weekly Honors

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State junior centerman Charlie Stramel (Rosemount, Minn.) has earned Big Ten Third Star of the Week honors after MSU's split with No. 2 Boston College last weekend.

Stramel contributed a pair of goals to MSU's Saturday 4-3 victory over the visiting Eagles. He scored MSU's first goal of the game and then came back and scored a second to tie the game at 3-3 in the second period. He blocked two shots in the game (three on the weekend) and won 13 of 17 faceoffs (76.5%) as the Spartans rebounded after a Friday night setback.

Stramel, in his first season as a Spartan, is close to surpassing his sophomore total of three goals after just four games in Green & White. He becomes the third player this season to earn weekly honors from the Conference – Isaac Howard (First Star) and Daniel Russell (Second Star) did so after MSU's opening-weekend sweep of Lake Superior State.

Michigan State has an exhibition game this Friday against Windsor at Munn Ice Arena at 6 pm.
