Three in Double Figures as Michigan State Beats Ferris State, 85-67

East Lansing, Mich. – Senior forward Frankie Fidler scored 14 points and Michigan State's men's basketball team opened up a 12-point lead at halftime en route to an 85-67 win over Ferris State in an exhibition game at the Breslin Center Tuesday night.
Fidler scored 12 of his 14 points during the first half and was one of three players to reach double figures in scoring, with sophomore forward Coen Carr scoring 12 points and grabbing four rebounds and sophomore forward Xavier Booker adding 10 points. Junior forward Jaxon Kohler finished with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds and 11 different players scored for the Spartans.

- Michigan State led by 12 points, 40-28, at the break and took a 15-point lead on a 3-pointer early in the half from Fears at the 18:44 mark.
- The Bulldogs responded with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 43-35 on a three-point play from Reece Hazelton and extended their run to 12-2 on a jumper from Mykel Bingham with 14:28 left, cutting the lead to 45-40.
- Free throws from Fears and an alley-oop dunk from Carr triggered a 14-3 run over 3:33 as the Spartans pushed the lead back to 16 points, 59-43, on another dunk from Carr, this time with 10:55 left.
- A 3-pointer from freshman guard Jase Richardson gave MSU a 62-45 lead with 10:16 to play and Ferris State got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
- Freshman guard Kur Teng hit a 3-pointer to give MSU its biggest lead, 21 points (85-64) with 32 seconds left to play.
- The Spartans went into the break with a 40-28 lead led by Fidler, who scored 12 points to lead the team, and MSU scored 19 points off the fast break.
- MSU led by nine points, 16-7, near the mid-point of the first half, but a 3-pointer from Ferris State's Donovan Brown-Boyd cut the lead to 16-10 and a three-point play from Ethan Erickson at the 10:40 mark made it 20-15.
- The lead was still five points, 23-18, when junior guard Tre Holloman fed junior center Carson Cooper for an alley-oop at the 9:25 mark.
- That triggered a 17-5 run as the Spartans took a 40-23 lead on a 3-pointer from Booker with 3:11 to play before the break.
- MSU went scoreless over the final three minutes and went into the break with a 12-point lead.
