
MSU Earns 6-2 Win At USNTDP

East Lansing, Mich. – Program alumnus Isaac Howard had a goal and two assists as No. 2 Michigan State skated to an 6-2 exhibition victory over the US National Team Development Program on Thursday night in Plymouth.

MSU led 3-1 after one period and 5-2 after 40 minutes, getting goals from five different players – in addition to Howard, fellow program alumnus Charlie Stramel scored the first goal of the night for MSU. Gavin O'Connell, Griffin Jurecki, and Patrick Geary also scored in the opening two frames. Tiernan Shoudy had the lone score in the third period, with Matt Basgall picking up his second assist of the night on the play.
Winger Richard Gallant opened the scoring 5:44 into the game off an assist from linemate Jack Murtaugh, and the duo connected for a second-period score at 7:17, with Gallant setting up Murtaugh.
MSU started Program standout Trey Augustine, who made three saves and allowed one goal in the opening period. Luca Di Pasquo played the second and third periods, making 14 saves. Patrick Quinlan started for the NTDP, stopping 34 shots.
MSU is off this weekend and resumes action with a two-game set against Lindenwood during Thanksgiving weekend. The Spartans take on the Lions on Friday (Nov. 29) and Sunday (Dec. 1) before returning to Big Ten play in December.
