•  At 9-1-0, Michigan State is off to its best start since the 1999-2000 campaign when it started 10-1-0.  MSU's seven-game winning streak is its longest since 2007-08, and the Spartans have opened B1G play with a 4-0 mark for the first time since the league began in 2013-14. MSU is ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time since April of 2007, right after winning the national championship.
•  Shane Vansaghi was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after the Notre Dame series.  He is the sixth Spartan to be honored in the five weekends that the Spartans have played countable games.  Vansaghi had a goal and three assists in the Notre Dame set, with two points each night. He owns the team's longest point streak, as the only player to have at least one point in every Big Ten game.  He is MSU's top first-year scorer with a 2-6-8 scoring line, tied for third on the team in points (+5).  Â
•  Isaac Howard leads the team in points (12) and shares the lead in assists (7), and ranks seventh in the B1G in points per game (1.20) and ninth in goals per game (0.5).  Daniel Russell owns the team lead in goals (7), and ranks second in the league in goals per game (0.70), which is ninth nationally.  His 7-3-10 scoring line puts him second on the team, with five of his seven goals standing as game-winners - tied for the national lead. Â
•  MSU's defense is significantly contributing to its 3.8 goals per game offense, which ranks fifth nationally. Nicklas Andrews had four assists in the two contests vs. Notre Dame and has a season 2-6-8 scoring line (+8).  Sophomore Maxim Štrbák is tied for the team lead in assists (7), which is close to eclipsing his freshman year scoring line (1-8-9)  Matt Basgall's 1-5-6 scoring line is tied for sixth on the team in points overall.  Â
•  Trey Augustine shares the Big Ten lead in games played (9) and victories (8, T-sixth nationally),  a 1.89 GAA (third B1G/ 16th nationally) and .931 save percentage (third B1G/16th nationally).  He owns a 3-1 record against ranked teams (and is 5-1 if including teams receiving votes) among his eight victories this season. Â
•  The Spartans are sponsoring their third annual Spartans Full Strength program in the month of November.  The month-long observance  puts a spotlight on cancer awareness and honor those who have been affected by the disease.  The Spartans are pairing with the Dr. Stephen Swistak Memorial Fund for this year's initiative - Swistak was a four-year Spartan letterwinner who passed from esophageal cancer in 2015. Â
The players and coaches will wear Spartans Full Strength pins/helmet stickers throughout the month of November in addition to several opportunities to honor cancer survivors, caregivers, and those who have fought the disease during MSU's home games.  Â
In addition to partnering with the Swistak Memorial Fund, MSU also teamed up with USA Hockey for the 11/21 exhibition game in Plymouth to benefit the family of Michigan assistant coach Matt Deschamps, who's wife Kelly was recently diagnosed with Stage III inflammatory breast cancer. A portion of every ticket sold went to the family's fund to help defray treatment costs.  The USNTDP announced a sellout crowd of more than 3,900 fans for last Thursday's game. Â
