GAME NOTES
• Michigan State played its school-record seventh night game of the season and fourth in East Lansing . . . MSU improves to 3-1 in night games in Spartan Stadium this season (wins over Florida Atlantic, Iowa and Purdue; loss to Ohio State).

• Friday also marked the 32nd night game in Spartan Stadium history but just the second in November, joining Nov. 8, 2014, vs. Ohio State . . . MSU improved to 23-9 all-time in night games in Spartan Stadium.

• Additionally, Michigan State improved to 10-0 at home under the Friday night lights since 2011 and 12-1 overall in Friday night games during that same span.

• The Spartans wore black pants, green jerseys and black helmets with a green Spartan head logo on them, marking the first time MSU has worn that uniform combination.

SERIES NOTES
• Friday's game marked the 69th all-time meeting between Michigan State and Purdue . . . the Spartans now lead the all-time series, 37-29-3, winning nine of the last 10 meetings . . . Friday night was the first meeting in Spartan Stadium since 2018 and MSU has won six in a row against Purdue at home and is 23-12 against the Boilermakers all-time in East Lansing.

OFFENSE
• MSU scored on its first offensive possession for the sixth time this season and the third time with a touchdown . . . the Spartans are now 3-0 when scoring a touchdown on their opening possession, also doing so in the Maryland (9/7/24) and Prairie View A&M (9/14/24) games.
• The Spartans' 17 points in the second quarter was their most points scored in a quarter, bettering the previous top mark of 14 points, done twice, with 14 points in the second quarter of the season-opener vs. Florida Atlantic (8/30/24) and the first quarter of the Prairie View A&M game (9/14/24).

• Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles was 15-of-31 for 159 yards and two TDs . . . Chiles now has thrown two TDs in back-to-back games after his two TD tosses at Illinois last week and his third multiple TD game, joining his season-high three at Maryland (9/7/24).

• Redshirt junior running back Nathan Carter had a rushing and receiving TD in the same game for not just the first time of his collegiate career, but also the first by a Michigan State player since Sept. 18, 2021, when Jayden Reed had a rushing and receiving TD in the Spartans' win at Miami (FL).

• After not having a receiving TD in his previous 21 games as a Spartan and 37 in his collegiate career, Carter now has a TD catch in back-to-back games after snaring the first of his career last week at Illinois (11/16/24).

• Carter finished with nine carries for 15 yards and a TD, while tallying two catches for 32 yards and a TD.

• Graduate running back Kay'ron Lynch-Adams had game highs of 18 carries for 85 yards . . . the 18 rushing attempts were the most of his MSU career, topping his previous mark of 15 carries, reached three times, most recently vs. Iowa (10/19/24), and the most overall since 23 vs. Merrimack during his time at UMass.

• The 85 yards was the third-most of Lynch-Adams' Spartan career, with a season-best 101 yards in the season-opener vs. Florida Atlantic (8/30/24) and vs. Iowa . . . it was the sixth game this season that Lynch-Adams has had double-digit carries and MSU is now 4-2 when he has 10+ rushing attempts . . . he has also rushed for 50+ yards in five of the 11 games this season.

• Senior wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. snared his third TD catch of the season with the 7-yard catch from Chiles in the first quarter, and his last two scoring catches have come at home, joining his TD catch vs. Iowa (10/19/24), along with the first one of the season at Maryland (9/14/24) . . . overall, it was Foster's eighth TD catch of his career, moving up to tied for No. 38 on MSU's career TD receptions list.

• Foster finished leading the team in catches and yards with four receptions for 59 yards . . . he moved up to tied for No. 28 on MSU's career receptions list . . . the 59 yards gives him 1,426 for his career, becoming the 33rd MSU player with 1,400 career yards and moving up to No. 32 on MSU's career receiving yards list.
• Now with 46 catches for 588 yards and three TDs this season, Foster has established new single-season career-highs for catches and yards, topping 43 receptions for 576 yards last year, while the three TDs matches last season's scoring catches.

• Foster also extended his team-best streak of at least one catch in 24-straight games dating back to the last game of 2022, in all 12 games in 2023 and all 11 games so far of 2024 . . . he has at least one catch in 34 of his last 46 games played.

DEFENSE
• Michigan State did not allowing Purdue a rushing first down Friday night . . . it marked Purdue's third time in its program history without a rushing first down, with two of the three occasions coming at Michigan State, as Friday's night joined the game at Spartan Stadium on Oct. 27, 1990, when the Spartan defense held Purdue to just 6 rushing yards on 22 attempts . . . the Boilermakers also didn't have a rushing first down against Iowa on Nov. 18, 1989.

• It was MSU's first time holding the opposition without a rushing first down since Nov. 15, 2014, at Maryland and was the sixth time in a Big Ten game in school history, as the 2014 Maryland game and 1990 Purdue games joined 2013 by Iowa, 1999 by Ohio State and 1965 by Ohio State.

• The Spartan defense also held Purdue to -4 yards rushing, marking the first time holding the opposition to negative rushing yards since -73 against Tulsa on Aug. 30, 2019.

• MSU's defense registered three sacks Friday night, their first sack in over six games, as the last game with a sack was at Boston College (9/21/24) . . . the three sacks was tied for the third-most in a game this season, behind the top mark of seven sacks in the season-opener vs. Florida Atlantic (8/30/24) and four at Boston College, joining the three vs. Prairie View A&M (9/14/24). . . . the three sacks was the most in a B1G game, topping the previous top mark of one at Maryland (9/7/24).

• The Spartan defense also snared an interception for the first time in the last four games after snaring a pick in six of the first seven games . . . Michigan State also had a season-high seven pass break-ups.

• MSU tallied two takeaways Friday night, adding a fumble recovery, for its first game with multiple takeaways since the game at Oregon (10/4/24) and only the third game this season with multiple takeaways, with two in the season-opener vs. Florida Atlantic (8/30/24) . . . of the three multi-takeaway games, Friday was the first game this season with one fumble recovery and one interception, as the previous two were both with two interceptions.
• Michigan State held Purdue scoreless in the second quarter, marking the 14th quarter that the Spartan defense kept the opposition off the scoreboard in a stanza, as part of doing so at least one quarter in nine of the 11 games this season.

• Senior linebacker Jordan Turner snared his second interception of the season and fifth of his collegiate career.

• Senior defensive back Ed Woods posted nine tackles, the most of his MSU career and tying his collegiate career of nine stops during his time at Arizona State, doing so vs. Stanford (10/22/22) during his freshman season . . . Woods has registered three or more stops in nine of the 11 games this season . . . he also added a season-high two pass break-ups.

• Graduate defensive back Angelo Grose logged six stops, his second-most of the season and most since 12 tackles in the season-opener vs. Florida Atlantic (8/30/24) . . . Grose also added his first full 1.0 sack of his career and he now has 1.5 sacks for his career, with his previous 0.5 sack coming vs. Richmond in 2023.

• Graduate defensive lineman Khris Bogle posted five tackles, logging 1.0 tackle for loss on 1.0 sack, for his third-straight game with at least 0.5 TFL, and seventh game this season with at least half a tackle for loss, now with 7.5 on the season and 4.0 sacks.
• Graduate linebacker Cal Haladay had three tackles, with 1.0 tackle for loss, and logged a pass break-up, for his first PBU since 2021 vs. Nebraska (9/25/21).

SPECIAL TEAMS
• Graduate defensive lineman Ru'Quan Buckley blocked a field goal attempt in the third quarter . . . MSU's last two blocked field goals have been against teams from Indiana, as Friday marked the Spartans' first blocked field goal since Nov. 18, 2023, against Indiana, when Simeon Barrow blocked Hoosiers' placekicker Chris Freeman's 45-yard attempt in a 24-21 Victory for MSU.

• Lou Groza Award Semifinalist and graduate placekicker Jonathan Kim made a 43-yard field goal in the second quarter . . . Kim is now 10-of-12 on field goals in the last five games as part of 19-of-21 on the season, leading the B1G and among the FBS leaders.

• With Friday night's upright split, Kim has now made at least one field goal in nine of the 11 games this season and in 18 of his 23 games as a Spartan.
