EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball will hit the road for a tough road test, taking on No. 14/13 Indiana at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. This is the only regular-season meeting between the Spartans and the Hoosiers. Sloane Martin and Aja Ellison will be on the call for the Peacock.
• The Spartans have won four-straight games after a 76-65 win over Minnesota on Monday. Michigan State is 17-5 this season and 7-4 in Big Ten action. Indiana is 18-3 overall and 9-2 in league contests. Last time out, the Hoosiers suffered just their second loss conference loss of the season, falling to No. 5/5 Ohio State, 74-69 on Feb. 4.
• The Spartans improved to 17-5 overall, surpassing last season's win total, when MSU was 17-14. The 17 wins are the most by Michigan State since the 2018-19 when the Spartans were a palindromic 21-12.

SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana holds an 18-3 overall record and stands 9-2 in Big Ten standings. The Hoosiers are third in the B1G standings, behind Iowa and Ohio State, who both hold 10-1 records. Indiana had won four-straight games before losing to Ohio State in Columbus, 74-69, on Feb. 4. The Hoosiers only league losses came against Iowa and Ohio State.
The Hoosiers are first in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (.513) and fourth in scoring margin (+18.0). IU is also second in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 39.9 percent from long range. Indiana also stands third in assists, averaging 18.6 apg.
Mackenzie Holmes is second in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 20.1 ppg, while standing in first in field goal percentage (.660). Sara Scalia is also second in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 44.0 percent from beyond the arc. She is also second in 3-pointers made per game with 3.1. Holmes is sixth in rebounding (7.5 rpg). Sydney Parrish has been out indefinitely with a foot injury that was sustained in practice on Jan. 19.
Teri Moren is in her 21st season at the helm of the Hoosiers with a 417-226 record. She is in her 10th season at Indiana with a record of 218-96.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HOOSIERS
Michigan State leads the overall series with Indiana, 50-32. Despite the success, the Hoosiers have won four of the last seven games. In Bloomington, MSU holds a slight 21-18 advantage, while the Spartans lead in East Lansing, 24-11. Last season, Michigan State took the regular-season meeting in East Lansing, 83-78, when the Hoosiers were ranked No. 3. In the second round of the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis, Indiana came out on top 85-94. MSU's last win in Bloomington came on Dec. 28, 2017, 68-46.
LAST TIME VS INDIANA
Despite a 32-point performance from graduate guard Kamaria McDaniel, the No. 9-seeded MSU women's basketball team was unable to hold off top-seeded Indiana, falling in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, 94-85, at the Target Center on March 3, 2023.
McDaniel set a MSU school record for points in a Big Ten Tournament game with 32, which is also a season high. She previously scored 29 at Wisconsin on Feb. 8. McDaniel also added seven rebounds. Sophomore guard DeeDee Hagemann had her fourth-straight double-digit scoring performance with 18 points, going 13-for-14 from the free throw line. Senior guard Moira Joiner also added 16 points with a team-high nine rebounds.
Indiana was led by 27 points and five boards from Mackenzie Holmes.
BEATING THE BEST
Michigan State is still looking for its first win over a ranked team this season. The Spartans are 0-2 this year with losses to then-No. 4/3 Iowa and then-No. 17-16 Ohio State. MSU's last win against a ranked team came against Indiana. On Dec. 29, 2022, the Spartans upset No. 3/3 Indiana, 83-78 in East Lansing.

Through Feb. 5, Michigan State holds a NET ranking of No. 19, which is fourth-best in the Big Ten. Iowa is first at No. 5, followed by Indiana at No. 13 and Ohio State at No. 14.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
With a 17-5 start, the Spartans are off to their best start the 2018-19 season. During that season, MSU also started 17-5, en route to a 21-12 finish, which was the last time that Michigan State reached the 20-win mark. The Spartans ended 9-9 in Big Ten action. Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault swatted four blocks against Minnesota on Feb. 5 to register at least one block for the fourth-straight game and the 19th game with at least one block. It was her 16th game this season with multiple blocks, in addition to her eighth game with three or more blocks.

Graduate guard Moira Joiner topped the 1,000 career point mark with a 3-pointer at the 6:39 mark for her fifth point of the game against Purdue on Jan. 24. She becomes the 30th Spartan women's basketball player to join the MSU 1,000-Point Club and the first since All-American Nia Clouden hit her 1,000th point on Jan. 7, 2021 vs. Maryland. Clouden finished her career in 2022 with 1,882 points. Joiner now 1,052 career points which puts her 28th all-time in the MSU record books, passing Brenda Jezowski (1980-85) with 1,034 points.

AMONG THE BEST IN THE LAND
The Spartans are 13th in the nation field goal percentage, shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Michigan State is also seventh in the country in assists per game, averaging 19.8 apg. They are also first in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (1.80). The Spartans high-flying offense currently stands 12th in the nation in scoring margin, as well (+19.5). MSU is currently sixth in the nation in 3-pointers made (9.4/game).
Individually, Julia Ayrault is 18th in the nation in blocks with 52 and 19th in blocks per game (2.4 bpg). DeeDee Hagemann is 13th in the country assist/turnover ratio (2.75).
HAGEMANN'S MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Junior guard DeeDee Hagemann is approaching etching her name in the MSU record books once again. With 99 assists so far this season, she looking reach the 100 assist mark her first three seasons. She would be the first person since Taryn McCutcheon (2017-20) to reach 100 assists in her first three seasons. McCutcheon is the all-time MSU leader in assists with 568. She also currently holds an assist/turnover ratio of 2.8, which would break her own record of 2.61 set last season.
DEEDEE CONTINUES TO HELP
With five assists in the first half alone against Minnesota on Feb. 5, junior guard DeeDee Hagemann moved up to tie for No. 9 on MSU's career assists list with her 389th career assist, passing Kim Archer (1983-88) with 381 assists and tying Eileen Shea (1987-91) with 382 helpers. She is closing in on becoming the eighth Spartan women's basketball player with 400 career assists and closing in on the No. 8 spot held by Brittney Thomas (2007-11) with 401 helpers.
AROUND THE BIG TEN
This season, Michigan State is second in the Big Ten in scoring margin (+19.6) and second in assists (19.8 apg). The Spartans are also second in the league in 3-point field goals made, averaging 9.41 per game. MSU is first in turnover margin (+7.59) and first in assist/turnover ratio (1.80).

Due to significant injuries this season, the Spartans have been forced to play with nine players for much of the season. Many MSU players have been logging in a lot of minutes so far this year. Moira Joiner is 15th in the Big Ten in minutes played, averaging 31.1 mpg. DeeDee Hagemann is second on the team and 17th in the leaague with 30.5 mpg, while Theryn Hallock is third in minutes off the bench with 25.5 mpg, while Abbey Kimball is fourth with 24.9 mpg. MSU has seven players who are averaging over 20 minutes per game.

TRIPLE-DIGIT THREATS
With a 105-66 win over Coastal Carolina on Dec. 21, MSU has now broken the triple-digit mark four times in the 10 games this season. This is the first-time ever that Michigan State has had four 100-point games in a season.

MSU head coach Robyn Fralick announced the signing of four National Letters of Intent, including Sinai Douglas, Helen Holley, Juliann Woodard (North Vernon, Indiana/Jennings County High School) and Inés Sotelo.
Douglas is a 5-4 guard, who is a native of Toledo, Ohio. She attends Toledo Start High School and is coached by Dane Franklin. Douglas is currently ranked No. 87 in the ESPNW HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Holley is a 6-1 forward, who is a native of Cleveland Ohio, plays for head coach Kevin Byrne at the Gilmour Academy. As a junior, she averaged 14.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. She captured second-team All-Ohio honors last season.
Woodard is a 6-0 forward, who is a native of North Vernon, Indiana, plays for head coach Kristi Sigler at Jennings County High School. Woodard is currently ranked No. 58 in the ESPNW HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Sotelo Miguez is a 6-3 forward, who is a native of Ourense, Spain. She has extensive international experience, including playing with the U18 Spanish National Team last summer in Konya, Turkey at the Eurobasket Tournament.

Michigan State women's basketball built a huge 47-24 half time lead, and never looked back en route to a 76-65 win over Minnesota Monday night to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the Breslin Center.

Clouden finished her career in 2022 with 1,882 points. Joiner now 1,052 career points which puts her 28th all-time in the MSU record books, passing Brenda Jezowski (1980-85) with 1,034 points.
The three treys against Minnesota moves Joiner up to tied for No. 5 on MSU's career 3-pointers list with 183 treys, tying her with All-American Kalisha Keane (2007-11).
AMONG THE BEST IN THE LAND
The Spartans are 13th in the nation field goal percentage, shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Michigan State is also seventh in the country in assists per game, averaging 19.8 apg. They are also first in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (1.80). The Spartans high-flying offense currently stands 12th in the nation in scoring margin, as well (+19.5). MSU is currently sixth in the nation in 3-pointers made (9.4/game).
Individually, Julia Ayrault is 18th in the nation in blocks with 52 and 19th in blocks per game (2.4 bpg). DeeDee Hagemann is 13th in the country assist/turnover ratio (2.75).
HAGEMANN'S MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Junior guard DeeDee Hagemann is approaching etching her name in the MSU record books once again. With 99 assists so far this season, she looking reach the 100 assist mark her first three seasons. She would be the first person since Taryn McCutcheon (2017-20) to reach 100 assists in her first three seasons. McCutcheon is the all-time MSU leader in assists with 568. She also currently holds an assist/turnover ratio of 2.8, which would break her own record of 2.61 set last season.
DEEDEE CONTINUES TO HELP
With five assists in the first half alone against Minnesota on Feb. 5, junior guard DeeDee Hagemann moved up to tie for No. 9 on MSU's career assists list with her 389th career assist, passing Kim Archer (1983-88) with 381 assists and tying Eileen Shea (1987-91) with 382 helpers. She is closing in on becoming the eighth Spartan women's basketball player with 400 career assists and closing in on the No. 8 spot held by Brittney Thomas (2007-11) with 401 helpers.
AROUND THE BIG TEN
This season, Michigan State is second in the Big Ten in scoring margin (+19.6) and second in assists (19.8 apg). The Spartans are also second in the league in 3-point field goals made, averaging 9.41 per game. MSU is first in turnover margin (+7.59) and first in assist/turnover ratio (1.80).
Graduate guard Moira Joiner leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game, which is 10th in the conference, while graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault is 12th with 14.9 ppg. Ayrault is also seventh in rebounding with 7.5 rpg. Junior guard DeeDee Hagemann is seventh in the league in assists, averaging 4.7 apg and first in assist/turnover ratio (2.8). Joiner is second in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.406). Ayrault is also second in the conference in blocks, averaging 2.4 bpg, behind Wisconsin's Serah Williams.
PUTTING IN THE MINUTES
Due to significant injuries this season, the Spartans have been forced to play with nine players for much of the season. Many MSU players have been logging in a lot of minutes so far this year. Moira Joiner is 15th in the Big Ten in minutes played, averaging 31.1 mpg. DeeDee Hagemann is second on the team and 17th in the leaague with 30.5 mpg, while Theryn Hallock is third in minutes off the bench with 25.5 mpg, while Abbey Kimball is fourth with 24.9 mpg. MSU has seven players who are averaging over 20 minutes per game.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Spartans only have seven regular-season games remaining. MSU has three home games left against No. 5/5 Ohio State (Feb. 11), Rutgers (Feb. 24) and Illinois for Senior Day (Feb. 29). On the road, Michigan State will take on No. 14/13 Indiana (Feb. 8), Michigan (Feb. 18), Purdue (Feb. 21) and Wisconsin (March 3).
BOUNCING BACK
Michigan State has had a history of bouncing back after losses this season. After the Spartans previous five losses, MSU has rebounded with a vengeance. Four of the five wins after losses have been by 18 points or more.
TRIPLE-DIGIT THREATS
With a 105-66 win over Coastal Carolina on Dec. 21, MSU has now broken the triple-digit mark four times in the 10 games this season. This is the first-time ever that Michigan State has had four 100-point games in a season.
COMING NEXT YEAR
MSU head coach Robyn Fralick announced the signing of four National Letters of Intent, including Sinai Douglas, Helen Holley, Juliann Woodard (North Vernon, Indiana/Jennings County High School) and Inés Sotelo.
Douglas is a 5-4 guard, who is a native of Toledo, Ohio. She attends Toledo Start High School and is coached by Dane Franklin. Douglas is currently ranked No. 87 in the ESPNW HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Holley is a 6-1 forward, who is a native of Cleveland Ohio, plays for head coach Kevin Byrne at the Gilmour Academy. As a junior, she averaged 14.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. She captured second-team All-Ohio honors last season.
Woodard is a 6-0 forward, who is a native of North Vernon, Indiana, plays for head coach Kristi Sigler at Jennings County High School. Woodard is currently ranked No. 58 in the ESPNW HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Sotelo Miguez is a 6-3 forward, who is a native of Ourense, Spain. She has extensive international experience, including playing with the U18 Spanish National Team last summer in Konya, Turkey at the Eurobasket Tournament.
O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!
Michigan State head coach Robyn Fralick has announced guard/forward Julia Ayrault and guard Moira Joiner as team captains, as voted on by the players on the 2023-24 women's basketball team. The duo are the first captains that Michigan State has had since the 2019-20 season, when Victoria Gaines and Taryn McCutcheon were tabbed team leaders.
LAST TIME OUT
Michigan State women's basketball built a huge 47-24 half time lead, and never looked back en route to a 76-65 win over Minnesota Monday night to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the Breslin Center.
With the victory, the Spartans have now won four-straight games to improve to 17-5 overall and 7-4 in Big Ten action. The seven league wins matches the win total from last season when MSU was 7-10. Since defeating MSU on Jan. 20, Minnesota has now lost four-straight games, falling to 14-8 overall and 4-7 in Big Ten play.
Overall, four Spartans reached double figures in the victory, led by graduate guard Moira Joiner's 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Joiner has reached the 20-point mark four times this season. Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault added 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and a game-high four blocks. Junior guard DeeDee Hagemann scored 13 points, while adding five helpers. Sophomore guard Theryn Hallock scored 10 points.
