EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2023-24 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
The honorees for March are senior Delanie Harkness (women's gymnastics) and Tre Holloman (men's basketball).
Harkness is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and qualified for the 2023 NCAA Championships on floor. She is currently ranked third in the Big Ten and 21st in the NCAA on bars for the Spartans, who won their second consecutive Big Ten regular-season title this season. The 2024 Big Ten Championships are set for Saturday, March 23 in East Lansing at Jenison Field House.
A criminal justice major, Harkness has also been very active in the community, volunteering her time at several outings, including the MSU Madness Trick-or-Treat Event, Special Olympics, Accessible Trick-or-Treat, Christmas Adopt a Family, Sound the Alarm-Save a Life!, Teams for Toys Wrapping Party and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
"Delanie has made tremendous strides in the classroom in her time at Michigan State and is really putting it all together in her senior year," said Danny Sager, Academic Coordinator for Student-Athlete Support Services. "She is a wonderful example of a student-athlete showing growth from year one to year four."
Holloman, a sophomore point guard from Minneapolis, has played in all 31 of MSU's games this season, averaging 5.6 points and 2.5 assists. The advertising management major will be named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team for winter sports later this month.
"Tre Holloman is a hard worker and never backs down from a challenge," said Hannon Roberts, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services. "Although he had a difficult schedule in the fall semester, he made a goal to get on the Academic All-Big Ten List and he accomplished that goal. He puts forth great effort in all he does and it has paid off for him as a student-athlete."
