MSU dropped by Purdue in game two of weekend series.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Michigan State baseball was beaten by Purdue on Saturday afternoon at Alexander Field in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The home-standing Boilermakers scored three runs in each of the first three frames, adding three more in the sixth and two in the seventh for the final margin of 14-0.
Michigan State now has a 14-18 overall and 3-5 B1G ledger. Purdue improves to 22-13 overall and 7-4 in league play. The Spartans are making their first visit to West Lafayette since 2019 this weekend, and Saturday's outcome earns Purdue the series win, the Boilermakers' first series win over the Spartans since 2012, as MSU had won the previous six series against Purdue. The result also cuts Michigan State's all-time series lead to 87-79.
Senior infielder Dillon Kark was 2-for-3 with a double, and was matched by sophomore infielder Randy Seymour also going 2-for-3, while senior outfielder Greg Ziegler was 1-for-2.
