
Michigan State Athletics to Host Spring Showcase, Presented by Michigan Achievement Scholarship, on Saturday, April 20

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics will welcome fans to Spartan Stadium on Saturday, April 20 to get a first glimpse at head coach Jonathan Smith and the 2024 Spartans when it hosts the Spring Showcase presented by Michigan Achievement Scholarship. Admission is free for the 2 p.m. event and the stadium gates will open at 12:15 p.m.
The Spring Showcase will mark the 15th and final spring football practice for the Spartans.
"We're looking forward to engaging with our Spartan fans at the Spring Showcase to close out spring practice," said Smith. "The players have been working really hard all spring and I appreciate their effort and dedication. This is a fun group to coach. It will be exciting for them to share an afternoon with the community in Spartan Stadium, both on the concourse signing autographs and on the playing field for the Spring Showcase. We will look to have some fun, make it competitive and put on a good show."

Gilbert Family Foundation has teamed up with Detroit nonprofit NW Goldberg Cares to celebrate the upcoming NFL Draft being hosted in Detroit. As part of the fun, NW Goldberg Cares will be facilitating a cleat and football giveaway to local youth. Please consider donating a new pair of cleats or a football at the Spring Showcase to support their effort. Collection bins will be available at all open entrances of Spartan Stadium. Cleats and footballs may also be purchased and donated directly via the NW Goldberg Cares Amazon Wishlist

• The Spartan women's tennis team will take on Nebraska at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Center beginning at 11 a.m.; admission is free.
• The Spartan softball team will be hosting Illinois at Secchia Stadium at 1 p.m. Tickets are available from $3-$5.
• The Spartan baseball team will be hosting Penn State at McLane Stadium with first pitch set for 3:35 p.m. Tickets are available from $3-$5.
• In addition to "Spartan Saturday" on April 20, the following Spartan home events will take place over the weekend:
A limited number of press box seats – priced at $90 each – remain on sale for the Spring Showcase. (Note: Minimum age requirement is 12 for press box admission; deadline is Friday, April 19 at noon.) It marks the 15th year that fans have had an opportunity to purchase press box seats and enjoy the same view as the media that cover Spartan football. Proceeds from the sale of press box seats will benefit the George Webster Memorial Scholarship Fund. George Webster, the only unanimous two-time first-team All-American in school history, had his No. 90 retired by Hall of Fame Coach Duffy Daugherty in 1967. Webster was on the 1965-66 Spartan teams that claimed back-to-back Big Ten and National Championships; he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He passed away at the age of 61 in 2007.

ADDITIONAL SPRING SHOWCASE NOTES
• Fans are allowed to bring clear bags into Spartan Stadium. In accordance with Michigan State Athletics security guidelines, the only bags, packages or containers permitted to be carried by fans as they enter the stadium are the following:
• Those individuals with true medical needs can enter any gate on game day (B, C, D, J, K). Individuals entering may bring the medical items in any bag; those bags will be searched and tagged by an MSU Police Officer. The officer working that gate has the final determination if that item is a true medical need.
• Fans are reminded that the "open container" ordinance will be enforced on campus and in parking lots on Saturday, April 20. Alcohol will not be sold inside Spartan Stadium during the Spring Showcase.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
Michigan State's Spring Showcase will be broadcast tape-delayed on the Big Ten Network at 4 p.m. BTN+ will stream the Spring Showcase live beginning at 2 p.m.
