EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State softball placed five student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team as announced on Tuesday afternoon. Graduate Liv Grey, juniors Faith Guidry and Macy Lee, and sophomores Britain Beshears and Sydney Doloszycki all earned the distinction. It's Lee's second consecutive season with an Academic All-District honor.
With five earning the honor in 2024, the Spartans have had a total of 37 student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors in program history.
To be eligible a student-athlete must have competed in 90 percent of the team's games or have started in 66 percent of the team's contests. Pitchers must have logged 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched, all while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Grey was a standout pitcher in her lone season as a Spartan posting a 2.41 ERA over 148.1 innings while allowing opposing batters to hit just .224. Grey's 168 strikeouts were good for 10th-most in a single season at MSU. Grey was a two-time B1G Pitcher of the Week, the first Spartan to earn to of those honors in a season since 2003.
Beshears was a breakout performer for Michigan State in her second season hitting a team-high 15 home runs with 40 RBIs. Beshears earned Third Team All-Great Lakes Region honors and was the B1G Player of the Week on Feb. 19, 2024. Her 15 home runs were the second-most for a single season in program history.
Doloszycki made 48 starts in the outfield for the Spartans in her return from injury, ranking third on the team in home runs (8) and RBI (21). Lee was an iron man for MSU playing in 50 of 51 games while battling injury. Her 16 walks drawn ranked second on the team and her four sacrifice flies led the program. Guidry was a key piece of the Michigan State bullpen in 2024 tossing 39.1 innings over 19 appearances for the Green & White.
