Preseason Camp Update: Spartans Practice in Full Pads for First Time

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State football team held its sixth practice of preseason camp and first in full pads on Monday in the Greg and Dawn Williams Indoor Practice Facility.
Following practice, MSU head coach Jonathan Smith and linebackers Jordan Hall, Wayne Matthews III and Jordan Turner met with the media to give an update on the Spartans.
"First day in full pads today – I was really pleased with the physicality," said Smith. "We actually did some live tackling, a limited amount, but I thought it was good for the guys to continue to progress and play.
"They're working hard. A week into it, I'm pleased with the effort and the attention to detail. We're throwing a lot at them. It's not flawless or perfect in any way, but I do appreciate the effort these guys are giving and battling each other, day in and day out."
MSU will return to the practice field on Tuesday morning as it continues preparations for the season opener on Friday, Aug. 30 vs. Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.
