Jack Velling Named to Mackey Award Watch List

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State junior tight end Jack Velling has been named to the John Mackey Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
A second-team All-Pac-12 honoree at Oregon State last season, Velling set an OSU single-season record for most touchdowns by a tight end with eight, a total that also tied for the most by a tight end in the FBS in 2023. He had 29 catches for 438 yards overall in 12 games, including 11 starts.
In two seasons (2022-23) at Oregon State, Velling had 45 receptions for 719 yards and 11 TDs in 23 games.
The Seattle, Washington, native represented the Spartans at the 2024 Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis last month.
Velling and the Spartans open the 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30 vs. Florida Atlantic in Spartan Stadium at 7 p.m.
