Women’s Golf Closes out Final Day with a Match Play Win at St Andrews Links Collegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team bounced back in the medal match play round of the St Andrews Links Collegiate, posting a 4-2 win over the University of St Andrews on Wednesday afternoon at the historic Old Course.
The Spartans were one of four schools competing in the three-day tournament, which started with two rounds of stroke play competition on the Jubilee Course and concluded with a medal match play round on the Old Course, where the game began centuries ago.
The Spartans finished the two-round stroke play portion at 21-over par 741 (372-369) and in fourth place and squatted off against the University of St Andrews in the consolation match. Princeton and Cal met in the championship match.

The competition in the St Andrews Links Collegiate was the final event of the fall portion of the season for the Spartans, who will be back in action next semester as the championship portion of the schedule gets underway.

- Senior Paula Balanzategui shot a 3-under par 69 and lost 1up against Caitlin Maurice from St Andrews, who shot a 4-under par 68.
- In match two, freshman Lucia Valderrama, posted a 3-under par 69 and won her match 1up against Judy Miwoo Joo.
- Senior Taylor Kehoe won four holes on the front nine and finished with an even-par 72 to post a 5up win over Ellie Monk.
- Senior Shannon Kennedy was all square with Mathilda Orring after nine holes but won four holes on the back and finished at 1-over par 73 for a 4up win.
- Sophomore Grace Vetter led 1up through nine holes and finished with a 3up win over Eliza Dana, carding a 1-over par 73.
- Junior Ana Sofia Murcia shot a 5-over par 77 and lost 7up to Emilie Knai in the final match.
