The Particulars
•  The regular-season home finale is on tap for Michigan State, hosting Illinois at 1 pm at DeMartin Stadium.  MSU celebrated its seniors earlier in the year, prior to an eventual 9-0 win over Milwaukee.   •  Sunday's game will have a webstream on B1G+.  Croix Green (pxp), Matt Guziewicz (analysis) and Renee Marsack (sideline) will be on the call.  Links to all broadcasts, webstreams, live stats, and more can be found on the schedule page at MSUSpartans.com. Â
•  Illinois has a commanding 21-5-3 record against the Spartans all-time, with three of MSU's five wins coming in East Lansing.  This will be just the third meeting of the teams in the tenure of Jeff Hosler - the Spartans previously earned 3-0 (2022) and 2-1 (2023) wins in the first two. Â
•  Illinois has each of its final three games on the road, which began with a 1-0 loss at Northwestern on Thursday.  MSU defeated Indiana (2-0) on Thursday and will play its final regular-season game at home today.  The Spartans will wrap the regular season next Sunday at Nebraska. Â
•  Michigan State (5-1-3) and Ohio State (3-1-5) are the league's only one-loss teams in the league behind first-place and undefeated  Washington (7-0-2, 23 points).  MSU sits in third place with 18 points, one behind Wisconsin (6-2-1).
•  Its the second straight Sunday where two former Grand Valley State -to-B1G coaches will face off.  Last week it was Iowa's Dave DiIanni vs. Jeff Hosler -  the Spartan mentor followed DiIanni at GVSU with each winning three national championships.  Illinois' Katie Hultin took over in  Champaign after three seasons at GVSU, where she led the Lakers to two NCAA regional titles.Â

When accounting for the full regular-season slate, MSU's opposition (past and upcoming) owns a .673 winning percentage, which is also the most difficult in the country.  Penn State owns the second-highest rank strength of schedule among B1G teams, (.620, 16th nationally). Â
•  Among MSU's seven non-conference opponents, Notre Dame (ACC), Dayton (A10), Buffalo (MAC) and Milwaukee (Horizon) are all leading their leagues, while Xavier (Big East) is each second.  Seven Spartan opponents appear in the top 25 (or receiving votes ) in either the United Soccer Coaches or Top Drawer Soccer national polls, including two in the top five (Notre Dame and Iowa).Â
•   The NCAA Women's Soccer Committee revealed its top 16 teams as of October 12 last Sunday afternoon.  MSU was the highest-ranked team at No. 11.  In the latest NCAA Women's soccer RPI ratings on Oct. 17,  Iowa (11) and MSU (14) are the two top-rated teams from the Big Ten. Â
