This Week In Spartan Athletics – October 29
Here's a look at the week ahead (October 29-November 3) for Michigan State Athletics:
Men's and Women's Cross Country
Michigan State hosts the Big Ten Cross Country Championships Friday at Forest Akers East Golf Course. The #13 ranked men will run in the men's 8K race at 10:35 a.m., followed by the #24 women competing in the 6K race at 11:35 a.m.
Women's Soccer
Michigan State has earned the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament after finishing the conference season with a 7-1-3 record. MSU has earned a first-round bye and will face either Northwestern or USC on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Purdue.
Volleyball
Michigan State hosts No. 10 Purdue on Friday night at Breslin Center at 7 p.m. Come early for pre-match trick-or-treating on the Breslin concourse – costumes are encouraged! The Spartans are also home Saturday night vs. Rutgers at 7 p.m.
Men's Basketball
#22/21 Michigan State opens the regular season Monday when the Spartans host Colgate at Breslin Center at 7 p.m. MSU split its two exhibition games, defeating Bowling Green at home, and dropping a seven-point contest at No. 4 UConn.
Football
Michigan State opens November with a road game at Minnesota. The Spartans and Golden Gophers will kick-off at 3:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
Women's Tennis
Michigan State will host its second event of the fall season, as the Spartan Invite, Presented by Auto-Owners Insurance is held Friday-Sunday at the MSU Tennis Center.
Field Hockey
Friday, Michigan State plays host to No. 2 Northwestern at Ralph Young Field at 3 p.m. The Spartans are also at home Sunday, playing Central Michigan at 1 p.m. In their last home competition, MSU defeated No. 12 Ohio State on Oct. 19.
Men's Soccer
The Spartans make their final road trip of the regular season, traveling to Rutgers for a Friday night contest in Piscataway, N.J.
Rowing
Michigan State will travel to Columbus, Ohio for a fall event with Ohio State on Sunday.
