This Week In Spartan Athletics – November 25
Here's a look at the week ahead (November 25-December 1) for Michigan State Athletics:
Women's Soccer
For the first time in program history, Michigan State is in the Elite Eight. The Spartans will look to earn a trip to the College Cup when they face No. 1 seed Stanford Friday at 5 p.m. ET in Palo Alto, California. MSU advanced with a 2-1 win over Colorado in the Sweet 16, powered by two goals from junior Bella Najera.
Men's Basketball
No. 11 Michigan State is spending Thanksgiving week in the Sunshine State, playing a pair of contests in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Tuesday, MSU will face East Carolina at 1 p.m. Thursday, the Spartans will play their third ranked opponent of the season, squaring off against No. 16 North Carolina at 4:30 p.m.
Women's Basketball
After opening the season with six straight wins at home, No. 20 Michigan State hits the road to take part in the Baha Mar Hoops Tournament in Nassau, Bahamas. The Spartans will play Temple on Friday at 6:30 p.m. MSU will then face either Western Carolina or Clemson on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Volleyball
Michigan State closes out the regular season with a pair of home matches against Big Ten foes from California. Wednesday, MSU battles No. 14 USC at 6 p.m. Friday, the Spartans welcome UCLA to Breslin Center for a 1 p.m. contest. The Spartans will also honor their Senior class on Friday.
Hockey
No. 3 Michigan State steps out of conference to play a pair of contests against Colgate at Munn Ice Arena. The Spartans host the Raiders Wednesday at 7 p.m., followed by a Friday afternoon contest at 4 p.m.
Football
Michigan State closes out the season with a game against Maryland at Detroit's Ford Field. The Spartans are 1-1 in their previous two contests at Ford Field. The game will be televised by FS1 at 7 p.m.
