
Nikki Smith Named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - For the third time this season, Michigan State gymnastics junior Nikki Smith was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.Â
Smith earns her third Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor of 2025 and fifth of her career. She is the only gymnast in the conference to win the award at least three times this season, joining UCLA's Jordan Chiles. Smith shares this week's Gymnast of the Week honor with UCLA'S Chae Campbell.Â
The West Bloomfield, Michigan native won her fourth all-around title of the season in MSU's 197.475-196.800 win over Minnesota last Saturday with a season-high 39.575. She also captured her third bars title of 2025 with a season-high 9.925. Smith finished third on vault, beam and floor, scoring a 9.875 on vault and 9.900 on floor while tying a season-high 9.875 on beam.Â
This season, Smith ranks second in the country on vault (9.917 average) and 13th in the all-around (39.425). Her 39.575 in the all-around is tied for the second-best all-around score in the conference this season.Â
MSU travels to No. 23 Nebraska on Saturday, Feb. 15 for an 8 p.m. ET conference matchup. The meet will stream on B1G+.Â
