
Spartan Women’s Tennis Hosting Final Sunday Doubleheader Of The Season

MSU hosts final non-conference doubleheader of the season.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis team returns home for their second and final doubleheader of the non-conference portion of the season on Sunday, Feb. 23 starting at 10 a.m. to face off against Youngstown State and Ball State at 2 p.m.
Following a successful stand on the road, the Spartans ride a six-game win streak into the weekend and have a 6-2 overall record.
Previously, MSU traveled to Lynchburg, Va. for matches against James Madison and Liberty, where the Spartans were victorious in both matches, going 4-1 (JMU) and 7-0 (Liberty).
Series History vs. Youngstown State
MSU has only faced YSU on one other occasion, with the first and only other meeting happening in 2024.
In this matchup in Youngstown, Ohio, the Spartans took the matchup 4-1, even with the disadvantage of being on the road.
The Green & White meet with the Penguins on Sunday Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.
Scouting Youngstown State
Going into this weekend, the Penguins hold a 6-4 record, going 2-3 at home and 2-1 in foreign territory.
Youngstown State faced off against opponents similar to MSU, taking their match against Western Michigan just one week prior.
YSU faces Ball State in a neutral territory match on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center prior to their match against MSU on Sunday.
Series History vs. Ball State
This is not the first meet between Ball State and MSU, with the first match between the two going back to 2007, where the Cardinals visited East Lansing, and MSU dominated in a sweeping 7-0 fashion.
Since 2007, the Spartans have held a 5-1 record against BSU, dropping only one meeting during the 2013-14 season.
The match against the Cardinals will follow the battle against Youngstown State on Sunday at approximately 2 p.m.
Scouting Ball State
Ball State holds a solid record going into the weekend, having just four matches, acquiring a 3-1 record.
The Cardinals stay consistent in their home territory, going 3-0, but have an 0-1 record on the road going into their match against the Penguins on Saturday and the Spartans on Sunday.
