Women’s Golf Closes Out March at the Clemson Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team plays its third tournament of the spring season and closes out the month of March this weekend at the Clemson Invitational, being played on The Reserve on Lake Keowee (Sunset, S.C.).
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held on The Reserve on Lake Koewee, a Jack Nicklaus signature course that plays 7,112 yards.
Michigan State tees off on Friday, March 28 at 9 a.m., starting on Hole No. 1, playing alongside host Clemson and Louisville.

THE CLEMSON INVITATIONAL FIELD
The 15-team field includes 12 teams ranked among the top-60 in the latest NCAA Rankings in Division I: host Clemson (38), Arkansas (2), Harvard, Louisville (51), LSU (11), Maryland (58), Miami (54), Michigan State (23), Ole Miss (15), Nebraska, Ohio State (24), Penn State, SMU (33), Tennessee (32) and North Carolina (10).
LAST TIME OUT
Michigan State shot an 11-over par 587 over two rounds and finished in third place among 13 teams at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, played at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. … The tournament was shortened to two rounds due to inclement weather on the final day … Michigan State posted rounds of 8-over par 296 and 3-over par 291 to finish the day 11-over par 587 … Senior Katie Lu led the Spartans, tying for fifth place at 1-over par 145 (74-71), with junior Paula Balanzategui tied for ninth place at 2-over par 146 (77-69) … Senior Brooke Biermann and sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia tied for 18th place with scores of 6-over par 150 … Biermann posted consecutive rounds of 3-over par 75, while Murcia shot a 2-under par 70 and closed with an 8-over par 80 … Freshman Catalina Monroy tied for 31st place at 10-over par 154 (78-76), while senior Shannon Kennedy, playing as an individual, tied for 31st place at 10-over par 154 (76-78).
