
Women's Golf in 10th Place at Clemson Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. — Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 7-over par 295 to place 10th among 15 teams at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina.
The 54-hole tournament, spanning three days, features eight nationally ranked teams, including the Spartans at No. 23.
Ohio State leads the field after the first round, posting a 13-under par 275, followed by SMU at 12-under par 276, Tennessee at 10-under par 278, Arkansas at 9-under par 279, and rounding out the top five is LSU at 8-under par 280.
Senior Brooke Biermann led the way for the Spartans, finishing 1-under par 71, tying for 21st place. A 71 marks Biermann's 11th even or under-par round of the season.
Sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia shot a 1-over par 73, putting her in a tie for 35th place. The senior led the Spartans with five birdies on the day.
Senior Katie Lu is tied for 55th place after shooting a 3-over par 75 on Friday.
Freshman Catalina Monroy and junior Paula Balanzategui are tied for 60th place after each carded a 4-over par 76.
Playing as an individual, senior Shannon Kennedy posted a 1-over par 73 and sits in a tie for 35th place.
As a team, the Spartans recorded 13 birdies, bringing their season total to 328 across eight events.
Round two will resume with a split-tee start at 9 a.m., with the Spartans playing alongside Clemson, Ole Miss, and North Carolina Wilmington.
